Nylon ribbon is a thin band of impregnated with ink material. Typewriter ribbon cartridges with nylon tape can be used repeatedly because the dye gradually wears off during the use of the tape. Thanks to this, nylon ribbons last longer than with carbon ribbons. Nylon tapes are most often used in typewriters and in covered-up type devices.
